I see no ships Il s'agit d'une phrase qu'aurait prononcée l'amiral Nelson lors de la bataille de Copenhague en 1801. Nelson était borgne et lorsque ses officiers l'informèrent que des navires de guerre danois approchaient, il aurait levé sa lunette vers son mauvais oeil et aurait déclaré I see no ships ("je ne vois aucun navire"), donnant ainsi l'occasion à la flotte anglaise d'engager le combat, et de le gagner. Aujourd'hui, on utilise cette expression en allusion à Nelson lorsque quelqu'un fait exprès de ne pas remarquer quelque chose.
